The Continent of Natural Beauty: South America

It's always been a dream of mine to go to South America; Rio de Janiero in Brazil, Machu Picchu in Peru, the city of Santiago in Chile and Patagonia in Argentina. I'm hoping next fall (Fall 2013) I can make the trip to Rio de Janiero, Brazil and then the other places will have to come over the next few years. These places are definitely on my bucketlist. I mean gorgeous tan-skinned boys, beautiful beaches and mountains, great food and it's a new place to explore. Sounds like heaven on Earth. Take me there, I've been dreaming of you South America. Any South American readers? Tell me about your continent, I'm very interested!

Hurricane Sandy

I'm dedicating this blog to the recent storm, Hurricane Sandy. Even though I live in Prague at the moment, my home is the East Coast in America. Many of the places I have gone growing up and love, have been beyond destroyed. My family and most of my friends along the East Coast were in the areas who did not get so affected which I am so grateful for. I stayed up for two nights straight worrying about the storm and the next time I would hear from them. However, the beach my friends and I escape to for a week every summer, about 3 hours from my hometown, has been completely put underwater and the damage is unfathomable. It all breaks my heart. New York City, a city I love and will one day live in has gone completely black and is also destroyed beyond belief. I have some friends there that I have not yet heard from which worries me to no end. I feel so so sorry for those who lost everything to this vicious storm.

For those of you affected by the storm, stay strong and the sun will shine again. My heart goes out to you.

Prague Takes Over Paris

In the land of crepes, chocolate croissants, gorgeous French men, great architecture and fashion...I fell in love, with the city, that is.

I've always seen it on Pinterest and in the movies so I made a promise to myself years and years ago that I would take a trip there, even if it were just for a weekend...which this was, but I will most DEFINITELY be going back for longer. My friend from growing up is currently studying in Paris so that was a plus but she ended up not being there that weekend. Not sure that the French men on their little Vespas, the statue I sexually harassed in the Louvre Museum, the chocolate croissants and crepes were ready for us crazy Prague girls.

So, we left Prague on Friday evening, took a 14 hour bus ride through the Czech Republic then Germany and arrived in Paris at about 9 AM.
About 20 things happened in the 14 hours we took over Paris:
1. We first climbed the Eiffel Tower...took the stairs which was the death of us...and got REALLY rained on.
2. Walked around aimlessly with our cameras pointed at anything and everything.
3. Ate some authentic Parisian crepes.
4. Walked along the Seine.
5.  Was asked for directions (compliment, yes) and replied successfully, "je ne parle francias".
6. Went to Champs Elysees Blvd.
7. Saw the Louvre...for real and not on the computer or tv screen.
8. Louvre Museum and hung out with my girl Mona Lisa and saw some other famous paintings and sculptures.
9. Saw the Opera House
10. Walked across the Love Lock Bridge and saw the Univerisdad de France
11. Frolicked down Parisian streets, just as they do in the movies
12. Ate like a non-French woman in a restaurant with delicious steak and french fries
13. Had a chocolate croissant for dessert given to us by a cute French boy
14. Got successfully but happily lost. This led to being a tourist and buying souvenirs.
15. Wandered over to the Notre Dame Cathedral.
16. Had a jaw dropping moment when we stepped foot into the Cathedral.
17. Lit candles in the Cathedral and said "Namaste".
18. Got lost again and had a temporary freak-out moment walking right by the Seine because we couldn't find our tour group.
19. Boarded the night river tour boat, saw the BEAUTIFUL Eiffel Tower at night, shining radiantly even from afar, saw all the bridges and almost got hit in the head by one of them upon going underneath it, saw a majority of Paris' famous buildings/ landmarks from the view of the water.
20. Fought the rain then sadly, got on the bus only to fight the urge to kick the guy across from me for attempting to play footsie every 10 seconds...

Even though I was bummed that my friend was away from Paris, all in all, I would say it was a pretty successful 14 hours in Paris. Until the next time we takeover Paris...

Some Technical Difficulties...

After some of those love technology road-blocks, I'm back in action!

I'll post next about last weekend's trip to the beautiful Paris and then this week's day trip to Plzeň, where Czech beer is made!

The Czech Republic got their first snow fall of the year this morning, it's so pretty now with all the white covering the houses, tall trees and mountains. Absolutely gorgeous. Hence the reason why I am curled up on the couch with a blanket, a cup of spiced apple tea and my ready to blog away fingers.

A Sick Day

Upon being sick as a dog, I took the day off from classes and slept pretty much all day. I woke up and the sun was FINALLY shining so my friend convinced me to get my sick self out of bed and go explore a little...SO glad I did!

We decided to rent a paddle boat and go on the river and paddle around to see the Prague Castle, Charles Bridge, National Theatre and Dancing House from the view on the water. So, so, incredibly beautiful. Take a look from the pictures!

After we paddled around for an hour in the shining sun and crisp fall air, we walked around a small island with a park, then ventured over to the Love Key Lock Bridge and the Lennon Wall...I've been living here for 2 months and still hadn't seen them yet, why? Who knows. But I finally got to today so I felt my tourist duties in Prague were fulfilled.

Of course, I forgot my big photography camera at home so sometime in the next week I'll venture back over to the Lennon Wall and take some quality pictures, and of course, I will write on the wall too. But for now here are some Droid and iPhone pictures.

P.S. expect some cool Paris pictures on Sunday!

Life of a College Student

I am a sick and broke college student...sounds pretty accurate right?
Living off bread and cheese and instant coffee for days at a time. Gotta love those day.
Well, that's been my past two weeks, especially the sick part. On top of it: midterms. Otherwise, I would be posting tons of cool things, so once this week is over and I feel a little more alive, there will be more posts to read and pictures to see. Don't worry wanderlusters!

Until then, travel on wanderlusters.

Quote of the Day...or rather, Night.

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."- Mark Twain

...well now have it be "Get in your car. Catch the next flight."

This Weekend

Will be spent in Brno! The 2nd biggest city in the Czech Republic, that is to the east of Prague. So, just what will I be doing there? Visiting family and relaxing before midterms. Doesn't get much better than that. Oh, and exploring of course!

Pictures soon, but in the meantime, travel on wanderlusters!

The Golden City

Okay, I'm cracking: I live in Prague, 'The Golden City', or the most beautiful city in Europe...well, to me at least.

Reason I cracked was because I am so excited to start posting the pictures I have been taking and some of the delicious eats...and beer...I've been indulging in.
So, now the secret is out. Prepare your eyes for some AWESOME pictures.

Travel on, wanderlusters!
